“When I started with Jerry Vennefron in 1982, we worked every Saturday and Sunday if needed to keep up. His dedication showed me that to own your own business, you do whatever it takes to make the customer happy. It's the only road to success.”

Jim grew up in Newport and began working with Vennefron Signs in 1982. He is the current head JV basketball coach for Newport Central Catholic, where he graduated high school. A basketball enthusiast, Jim loves pick-up basketball games and watching his sons play ball.

“I remember going to my dad (Jerry’s) shop and watching him design signs by hand. Eventually I was old enough to get my hands on some of those cool tools my dad used. I often used the magnifying machine to enlarge maps and graphs for school projects, and my teachers were amazed. I owe my good grades to the family business.”

Michelle was initially hired at Vennefron to do cleanup work for her father and Jim, but was soon on the scaffold hand-painting and lettering signs for clients. 22 years later, she is part owner of the company and heads up the design department. She truly enjoys coming to work each day and working with her two sisters and brother-in-law.

Michelle has three daughters—Katie, Kennedy and Riley. In her spare time she likes decorating, remodeling and designing rooms and workspaces.

“As the oldest of my sisters, I have vivid memories of my grandfather (Bernie Vennefron) practicing his hand-painted sign artistry. Sitting on his lap, I would watch as he painstakingly practiced painting circles by hand, then measured them with a compass to judge his work. It amazed me that he was nearly perfect every time.”

That perfectionism and work ethic was passed down through the generations to Stacey, who started her career in the family business in 1993. She helped the company evolve to adopt new technologies and become the first-class organization it is today.

Stacey is the mother of two daughters—Courtney and Morgan. She loves the outdoors, watersports and traveling, her favorite travels being to Rome and Tuscany.

Silk Screened Apparel

“When my Dad first took over the business from my Grandpa, the majority of the work took place in our basement. Dad would work downstairs all day, come up for dinner, then go right back down and work late into the night to make sure that everything was perfect. I like to think that all of us inherited a part of that work ethic from him.”

Janet began silk screening for Vennefron Signs in the fall of 2008 and truly enjoys being a part of the family business and getting to know her clients. Her attentiveness to detail and customer satisfaction is a testament that the art of true customer service is not lost.

Janet has been married to Jim Pangallo for 22 years and has two sons, Grant and Dominic. She enjoys watching her boys play basketball and playing with the family dog, Mocha.
